Annual Salary:

Starting $54,700.00 first year 

12 HOUR SHIFTS

ALL UNIFORMS, WEAPONS, AND BODY ARMOR SUPPLIED BY DEPARTMENT

ANNUAL PAID VACATION- 

  • Year one— Fifteen days paid vacation per year until reaching ten years of service.
  • Year ten— Twenty days paid vacation per year until reaching twenty years of service.
  • Year twenty— Twenty-five days paid vacation per year.

IN ADDITION TO PAID VACATION RECEIVE UP TO 15 PAID HOLIDAYS PER YEAR

8 DAYS (8 hours per month) SICK LEAVE ACCRUED PER YEAR (up to 90 days accrued sick leave paid at retirement / no other law enforcement agency in the region offers such)

Qualifications

  • Must be 21 years of age or older
  • High school diploma or GED required
  • Must be a U.S. citizen
  • Louisiana drivers license required
  • Pass Civil Service Test

Those applying for the Police Officer positions must take the civil service test.

Applicants are also required to fill out an application with the Kenner Police Department. Click Here to submit a preliminary application. This can be done before or after passing the civil service test. 

AFTER PASSING THE LOUISIANA STATE CIVIL SERVICE TEST

After completing the written exam, the participant will be notified by the Louisiana State Examiners Officer whether they passed or failed. If the participant fails the exam, there will be no further processing, retesting may be done at the next available civil service testing, applicant must re-apply to take the next civil service test offered.  

Once the score is approved, the applicant will be contacted by a representative of the Kenner Police Department and scheduled for a physical fitness test. At the time of the physical fitness test, the applicant will also be asked to complete a Personal History Questionnaire.
