Criminal Investigations Division

The Criminal Investigations Division (CID) is a division within the Investigative and Support Services Bureau. Detectives assigned to the Criminal Investigations Division are responsible for investigating all major criminal offenses including, but not limited to, homicide, armed robbery, sexual assault, child abuse, burglary and other violation of the law.

Sex Offender Compliance Unit

The Sex Offender Compliance Unit’s primary goal is to ensure compliance for all registered sex offenders living and working within the City of Kenner. The Compliance Unit is responsible for registering the sex offender and conducting unannounced compliance checks at the offender’s residence.  Compliance Officers also obtain arrest warrants for non-compliant sex offenders.

Crime Victim Coordinator

The Crime Victim Coordinator has the overall responsibility for maintaining contact with victims of violent crimes and assisting them with obtaining any available victim assistance resources and acts as a liaison for the victim and the District Attorney’s Office.

Task Force Officers

The Criminal Investigations Division also has members assigned to various multi-jurisdictional task forces such as the US Marshals Gulf Coast Regional Task Force.  This multi-state task force is a combination of federal, state, and local law enforcement agencies tasked with locating and apprehending the most dangerous fugitives.  

The department also assigns a criminal investigator to the Criminal Intelligence Center, or CIC, located in Jefferson Parish.  The CIC is a multi-agency/multi-jurisdictional law enforcement unit that serves as a hub for criminal intelligence information.
