Kenner Police to participate in

Law Enforcement Torch Run on May 15th


 KENNER — The Kenner Police Department along with Harahan Police Department, Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s Office, Louisiana State Police Troop B, Probation and Parole, DEA, FBI, Secret Service, U.S. Marshals and numerous other agencies, military, and civilians will participate in the 30th annual Louisiana Law Enforcement Torch Run on Tuesday, May 15, 2018 to benefit Special Olympics Louisiana.  Local officers have carried the “Flame of Hope” for Special Olympics throughout the area since the event came to Louisiana in 1985.  To date, the Law Enforcement Torch Run is the largest fundraising and public awareness campaign for Special Olympics programs around the world. This great event is open to the public. This is a group formation run at a 10-minute mile pace. There are neither walkers nor bikers in this event for safety reasons.


 The route for the Jefferson Parish leg of the Louisiana Law Enforcement Torch Run:

Beginning at approximately 8:00 a.m., runners will start at Lafreniere Park, 3000 Downs Blvd. in Metairie, and will run west on Veterans Blvd towards the Kenner Police Complex, located at 500 Veterans Blvd, where the run will end.  The length of the route is approximately 3.1 miles. The cost will be $25.00, which will include registration, T-shirt, food, and entertainment after the run. To have your shirt for the run you must register no later than Friday, April 20, 2018. You can also register the day of the run.
