Parolee arrested after committing residential burglary

Kenner - A Kenner man on parole, with a lengthy criminal history relating to burglary, was arrested Sunday, October 8, 2017, after he entered an unlocked residence in the 4100 block of Lorie Drive, in Kenner.

On Sunday, October 8, 2017, at 12:35 p.m., the Kenner Police Department responded to a residential burglary, in the 4100 block of Lorie Drive, in Kenner.   There a 57-year-old female resident / victim reported that an unidentified male with some type of tattoo on his face had entered her unlocked residence, and stole her wallet from a living room coffee table.  The male then fled the residence and area on a bicycle.

Officers canvassing the area spotted the suspect, identified as Roberto M. Barquero II., in the 4100 block of Alabama Avenue, in Kenner.  Once Barquero observed officers he led officers on a foot chase, and eventually jumped into the Duncan Canal, in an effort to avoid apprehension.

Barquero was taken into custody and charged with the crimes of simple burglary of an inhabited dwelling, resisting an officer, in addition, to parole violations.  At the time of this press release, Barquero remains in custody, no bond has been set due to the parole violations.

Kenner Police Chief Michael J. Glaser urges anyone with information concerning Roberto M. Barquero II to call Kenner Police Officer Leia Vega at (504) 712-2222 or Crimestoppers at (504) 822-1111.
