Kenner Police are investigating a shooting

Kenner - On Monday, October 23, 2017, at approximately 7:08 p.m., the Kenner Police Department received multiple 9-1-1 telephone calls reporting that someone was shooting a gun either on Duke Drive or Clemson Place, in Kenner.

Responding officers located a 40-year-old male who was shot in the abdominal area in the 200 block of Duke Drive.  Next to the male was a handgun covered in blood.  The male who was shot was transported to University Hospital where he was immediately taken to surgery and is listed in guarded condition.

A preliminary investigation revealed that the 40-year-old male may have been involved in an altercation with another male in the 200 block of Clemson Place, in which the male shot and the other male exchanged gunfire.  Multiple casings were recovered on Clemson Place.  It was determined that the male shot, had been shot on Clemson Place, fled, jumped a fence, and collapsed on Duke Drive.

Kenner Police Chief Michael J. Glaser urges anyone with information concerning this shooting to call Kenner Police Detective Bryan Weiter at (504) 712-2333 or Crimestoppers at (504) 822-1111.
