Laplace man arrested in Kenner shooting
Kenner - On Sunday, November 12, 2017, at 4:18 p.m., Kenner Police Officers responded to a disturbance / shooting outside the Malcolm Kenner Apartments, located at 851 Reverend Richard Wilson Drive, in Kenner. When officers arrived, they learned of an altercation within the complex, where gunshots rang out, and a nineteen-year-old male had been struck in the leg.
The victim was transported to Ochsner Main Campus where he was treated and released.
From witnesses, officers learned that there was a disturbance involving young children who was playing football. It escalated into a fight and adults became involved. Reginald Tezeno, 41, of 409 Bellevue Drive, Laplace, was involved in the disturbance and produced a handgun which he pointed at another and fired. The projectile ricocheted off the ground and stuck the nineteen-year-old in the leg, who was not the intended target. Tezeno was found inside an apartment within the complex and taken into custody.
Tezeno will be charged with the crimes of aggravated battery and aggravated assault with a firearm. At the time of this press release, Tezeno remains in custody, no bond has been set.
