 Big Lee’s towing owner arrested

Kenner - On Tuesday, November 28, 2017, members of the U.S. Marshal’s Gulf Coast Regional Task Force, Louisiana State Police, and the Kenner Police Department arrested Lee “Big Lee” Martin, 53, of 615 Bonnabel Boulevard, Metairie, Louisiana.  Martin will be charged with the crime of aggravated battery.

On Sunday, November 19, 2017, about 6:15 p.m., the Kenner Police Department investigated a disturbance at 176 W. Airline Drive, in Kenner, involving Lee “Big Lee” Martin and a 44-year-old female victim who claimed Martin intentionally struck her with his tow truck.

Martin owner of “Big Lee’s Towing” of Metairie claims he was visiting a friend inside a trailer park, located at 176 W. Airline Drive, in Kenner.  Martin who was inside a trailer, advised he could hear a disturbance outside which he believed was near his tow truck.  Martin exited the trailer to find a 44-year-old female, who was intoxicated complaining about where he had parked his tow truck.  Martin alleged he apologized and attempted to leave when the female victim placed her hands on the rear of the truck preventing him from leaving.  Martin claims at that point he exited his truck and asked the female to move.  The female complied at which time Martin proceeded to back out and leave.  Martin advised as he was leaving, he was flagged down and told he had struck the female with his truck which he adamantly denied.

The female victim was observed by officers to be intoxicated.  Due to varying accounts, the incident remained under investigation.

On November 22, 2017, the victim arrived at the Kenner Police Department to amend the original police incident report.   The victim was also able to produce video taken at the time of the November 19th incident.  The victim claimed she walked outside her trailer and saw a man (Lee Martin) standing next to a tow truck.  Figuring he was the owner, the victim asked if he could move the vehicle.  The victim advised Lee Martin did not move, and after continuously asking she grabbed her cellular telephone and began taking pictures of the tow truck.  Martin at that point began to shine a flashlight in the victim eyes at which time the tow truck backed up suddenly but did not strike her.  Martin then pulled forward only to place the vehicle in reverse again, at which time he backed up and struck the victim in her legs.

After review of the video, an arrest warrant was obtained for Lee Martin, who was located today (Tuesday, November 28, 2017), in the 1000 block of Veterans Boulevard, in Metairie.  At the time of this press release, Martin remains in custody, no bond has been set.

Kenner Police Chief Michael J. Glaser urges anyone who may have witnessed this incident to call Kenner Police Officer Eric Hill at (504) 712-2222, or Crimestoppers at (504) 822-1111.
