Kenner man charged with robbery, theft, and assault with a firearm

Kenner - On Thursday, April 13, 2017, the Kenner Police Department arrested Dontero Graves, 17, who provided the home address of 2110 6th Street, in Kenner.  Graves was extradited from Fort Bend, Texas and returned to Louisiana.   Graves was charged with the crimes of simple robbery (2-counts), theft of goods, and aggravated assault with a firearm.   Graves was charged concerning four separate incidents that occurred in February.

The first incident occurred on February 2, 2017, in which Graves entered the business of Airline Wireless, and asked the clerk to see an IPhone.  The clerk presented an IPhone to Graves, expecting a potential purchase / sale at which time Graves snatched the cellular phone from the clerk’s immediate possession and fled the business.

The second incident occurred on February 23, 2017.  Graves returned to the same store and entered the business, at which time he asked a different clerk working to view a phone that was not on display.  As the clerk went to retrieve the phone, Graves reached behind the counter and snatched two cellular telephones and fled the business.

The third incident occurred February 26, 2017.  The victim was contacted by Graves via an application called “Let Go” in reference to purchasing a cellular telephone.  The victim met multiple subjects at the Race Trac located in the 2100 block Airline Drive, in Kenner.  Upon the victim showing Graves the cellular telephone he was selling, it was immediately snatched from the victim.   Later that same day, the victim made contact with Graves and set up a second meeting in which the victim intended on getting his phone back.  Upon meeting, an altercation ensued, in which Graves brandished a gun and threated the victim.

Dontero Graves was interviewed by Kenner Police Detective Nick Engler.  Graves admitted to committing the offenses he was charged, advising he committed the offenses due to the fact he did not have a phone.
