Man arrested for burglaries in the Place Pontchartrain and Woodlake subdivisions

 Kenner - On Saturday, October 8, 2016, at approximately 4:15 a.m., the Kenner Police Department responded to Everglades Street, in Kenner (Woodlake Subdivision), in reference to a white male attempting to enter a residence thru the rear door.  Upon officers arriving in the area, officers captured Kevin Collins, Jr., 25, of 24 Everglades Street hiding behind a vehicle.   Collins was interviewed and admitted that he attempted to enter a residence without authorization and had burglarized an unlocked vehicle parked in the driveway of the residence he attempted to enter. 

 In addition to this incident, Collins was found to be in possession of gloves, a knit cap, and a prescription belonging to a second victim who lived on Platt Street, in Kenner.   The victim was contacted at which time it was discovered the victimís vehicle, also unlocked, had been burglarized. 

 Collins was interviewed by Kenner Police Detectives Bryan Weiter and Devin Diedling and confessed to two additional vehicle burglaries of unlocked vehicles that occurred on Everglades Street, on July 23rd, 2016. 

 Collins also confessed to an attempted residential burglary, and two vehicle burglaries of unlocked vehicles, that occurred in the 4400 block of Rue St. Peter (Place Pontchartrain Subdivision) on June 15th, 2016.   

  Collins was arrested and charged with the crimes of unauthorized entry of an inhabited dwelling, attempted simple burglary of an inhabited dwelling, simple burglary vehicle (4-counts), attempted simple burglary vehicle (2 counts), and possession of burglary tools (2-counts).  At the time of this press release, Collins remains in custody, his bond was set at $161,00.00.
