Kenner mother and 3 juveniles arrested in shooting on W. La. State Drive
Kenner - On Wednesday, April 8, 2015, at approximately 5:10 p.m., the Kenner Police Department responded to a fight and shooting that occurred in the 3500 block of W. La State Drive, in Kenner. During a group fight involving juveniles, a 14 year old juvenile (male) was shot in the upper thigh and transported to Ochsner Kenner.
As the result of the investigation, thus far, 3 juveniles have been arrested, including Lakenya Hall, 35, of 225 Clemson Place in Kenner. Hall is the mother of two juveniles arrested. She was charged with the crimes of disturbing the peace and six counts (6) of contributing to the delinquency of juveniles. After a fight at a secondary location (bus stop), Hall transported a group of juveniles to the 3500 block of W. La State Drive in order for them to engage another group of juveniles in a fistic encounter which resulted in one juvenile producing a firearm and shooting at the group brought to the location by Hall. In addition to Hallís arrest, other arrests include:
A 15 year old juvenile male who resides in the 3500 block of W. La State Drive. The 15 year old was charged with aggravated battery, illegal possession of a handgun by a juvenile, possession of a firearm with an obliterated serial number, illegal use of weapons, and disturbing the peace. This juvenile is the one who produced the firearm that shot the 14-year-old victim in the upper thigh area. A .22 caliber handgun was recovered.
An 11 year old juvenile male, who resides in the 200 block of Clemson Place, in Kenner. The 11 year old was charged with the crime of disturbing the peace by fighting.
A 15 year old juvenile male, who resides in the 200 block of Clemson Place, in Kenner. The 15 year old was charged with the crime of disturbing the peace by fighting.
This incident remains under investigation, additional arrests are expected. At the time of this press release, Hall remains in custody. The juveniles arrested were transported to the Jefferson Parish Juvenile Assessment Center, to await a continued custody hearing.
