Jefferson Parish purse snatcher charged with additional robbery; additional suspect(s) sough

Kenner - A Metairie man arrested for two purse snatchings by the Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s Office has been arrested by the Kenner Police Department and charged with a May 4, 2014, robbery which occurred in the 1000 block of St. Julien Drive, in Kenner.

Eric Robertson, 31, who provided the home address of 4201 Hessmer Street, in Metairie, has been charged with “second degree robbery” and “unauthorized use of an access card.”  On May 4, 2014, at 01:55 a.m., Robertson approached a 62 year old (female) victim, in the 1000 block of St. Julien Drive, as she was exiting her vehicle.  Robertson grabbed the victim’s purse and attempted to pull it from her.  Because the purse strap was around the victim’s shoulder, he was unable to gain control of the purse, at which time he (Robertson) began punching the victim; knocking her to the ground, and took the purse prior to fleeing the scene, in a tan automobile occupied by two additional suspects.

As the result of this robbery and assault, the victim sustained a broken right arm, a fracture in her right wrist and nose, multiple cuts and abrasions, and a dislocated shoulder which required surgery.

Shortly after the robbery, Robertson was captured on video surveillance utilizing the victim’s credit cards, with the suspect whose photo is attached and is still unidentified at a local store.

Chief Steve Caraway urges anyone with information concerning Eric Robertson, the remaining suspects, or the unidentified suspect seen in the attached photograph, to call Detective Jesse Johnson (Kenner Police Department) at (504) 712-2238 or Crimestoppers at (504) 822-1111.

Robertson remains in custody; bond for the second degree robbery charge was set at $ 75,000.00 and $1,000 for the unauthorized use of an access card.  Total bond $ 136,000.00.   Kenner Police Department website:  http://www.kennerpd.com
