Kenner man arrested for aggravated burglary

Kenner - The Kenner Police Department reports that Victor Manuel Vega-Ramiro, 19, of 523 27th Street, apartment B, Kenner, has been arrested and charged with the crime of aggravated burglary.

On February 24, 2014, Ramiro armed with a machete and wearing a mask forced entry into a residence in the 800 block of Veterans Boulevard, in Kenner.  Once inside, Ramiro confronted an occupant inside the home, forced him to lie on a bed and stated “you saw nothing.”  Ramiro then ransacked the residence and stole a laptop computer.  Witnesses reported seeing the suspect flee the residence in what was described as a light brown sports utility vehicle with three oversized chrome rims and one regular dark or “spare” tire rim on the rear driver’s side.

Detectives utilizing License Plate Recognition cameras were able to identify a 2003 GMC Yukon matching the suspect vehicle seen fleeing the scene of the aggravated burglary.  The Yukon was registered to Ramiro’s mother.  Detectives also discovered physical evidence which linked Ramiro to the aggravated burglary, which resulted in an arrest warrant being issued for his arrest.  Members of the U.S. Marshal’s Gulf Coast Regional Task Force located and arrested Ramiro on the outstanding warrant, and transferred him to Kenner Police custody.

Ramiro was interviewed by Kenner Police Detective Charlotte Synigal and confessed that he was in fact the person who forced entry into the residence, while wearing a mask and armed with a machete, confronted the occupant of the home, who he did not know and had randomly selected the residence, and stole a laptop computer from within.  At the time of this press release Ramiro remains in custody, having been transported to the Jefferson Parish Correctional Center where he remains on a $150,000.00 bond.

Chief Steve Caraway asks that if anyone has any information regarding Victor Manual Vega-Ramiro or this aggravated burglary, to contact Kenner Police Detective Charlotte Synigal at (504) 712-2255.
