Registered Sex Offender arrested utilizing social media

 Kenner - On July 14, 2014 the Kenner Police Department initiated an investigation after receiving a crime tip that Robert Longo, 54, of 3945 Alabama Avenue, Kenner, was utilizing an online social networking website “Plenty of fish” ( with the username “quarterman01.”   Plenty of fish is an online dating website. 

 Longo a convicted sex offender who was found guilty by a jury in 24th Judicial Court was convicted of pornography involving juveniles on August 16, 2007.  Longo served three (3) years for his conviction and was released from the Department of Corrections on August 14, 2010.  Because of his conviction, Longo is classified as a Tier II offender and is required to register as a sex offender for 25 years.  Having been convicted of pornography involving juveniles Longo is not allowed to utilize social networking websites, pursuant to Louisiana Revised Statutes 14:91.5 relative to unlawful use of a social networking website.  After his release from DOC and completing his registration requirements, Longo signed acknowledging and was provided a copy of his sex offender requirements. 

  On July 23, 2014, Longo arrived at a prearranged location to meet with an individual he corresponded on social media, which was actually an undercover police detective, at which time he was arrested.  Longo was interviewed and acknowledged his sex offender requirements and the fact he was not allowed to be utilizing social media websites. 

 Longo was charged with the crime of unlawful use of social networking websites.  At the time of this press release, Longo remains in custody, no bond has been set.
