Man arrested for possessing child pornography

Kenner-An ongoing internet investigation has resulted in the arrest of Jose Garcia Barillas, 45, who resides at 3245 Idaho Avenue, apartment 7, in Kenner.  Barillas was arrested and charged with pornography involving juveniles (1-count).

The investigation began when a Slidell Police Department detective, assigned to the FBI Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force was conducting an uncover internet operation in an effort to locate persons who possess, manufacture, and/or distribute child pornography.  Using the internet, the detective was able to connect to a file sharing program to Barillas’ computer located in Kenner, where the detective was able to obtain a publicly shared file that depicted child sexual abuse.

Kenner Police Cyber Crime detectives, also assigned to the FBI Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force  obtained a search warrant, and conducted a search at Barillas’ apartment, located at 3245 Idaho Avenue, apartment 7.  There detectives located Barillas who admitted he uses file sharing software to download music, music videos, and child pornography.   An on scene preview of Barillas’ computer revealed several movie files depicting child sexual abuse, children engaging in oral sex with an adult male, and other images of child sexual abuse.

Barillas was arrested and charged with pornography involving juveniles.  Barillas remains in custody at the Jefferson Parish Correctional Center, his bond has been set at $10,000.  It should be noted that Barillas is in the country illegally from El Salvador.   Additional criminal charges may be added to Barillas once a computer forensic exam is complete.
