Kenner man continues burglary spree day after heís released from jai

Kenner- On Tuesday, April 16, 2013, Darrien Gray, 22, of 2635 Albany Street, Kenner, was released from the Jefferson Parish Correctional Center, in Gretna.  Gray had been arrested by Kenner Police on March 26, 2013, after he was captured burglarizing a vehicle in the 2700 block of Kingston Street, in Kenner.  At the time of his arrest, Gray was in possession of two laptop computers which had been taken during a reported March 25, 2013, residential burglary that occurred in the 200 block of 27th Street (Kenner), however charges were refused by the D.A.ís Office and Gray was subsequently released from custody (April 16, 2013). 

 On Wednesday, April 17, 2013, the Kenner Police Department responded to the Woodlake Subdivision in Kenner, after numerous residents reported there unlocked vehicles had been burglarized and a vehicle had been stolen during a burglary spree.  There was 7 vehicle burglaries and 1 vehicle theft reported.  The vehicle theft was reported on Zion Street.  The vehicle burglaries were reported on Zion Street (2), Platt Street (3), Yellowstone Street (1), Acadia Street (1), and (1) reported adjacent to the subdivision in the 4100 block of West Loyola Drive, in Kenner.  Each of the vehicle burglaries were unlocked vehicles, in addition, each had been rummaged through.  Property taken during the burglaries included a gun, class ring, CDís, sunglasses, a rosary, and money. 

 Kenner Police received a break in the burglary / theft investigation, on Wednesday night, when the stolen vehicle was recovered abandoned in the 200 block of Clemson Place in Kenner.  Upon processing the vehicle detectives recovered evidence that linked Gray to the stolen vehicle in addition, to the vehicle burglary in the 4100 block of West Loyola Drive.   A search warrant was executed at Grayís residence where the keys for the stolen vehicle were located.  At the time of this press release, Gray has been arrested and charged with simple burglary (7-counts) and theft of a motor vehicle (1-count).  Gray remains in custody; his bond was set at $190,000.00
