Metairie man and woman charged with Attempted Second Degree Murder


Kenner - The Kenner Police Department with the assistance of the U.S. Marshalís Gulf Coast Regional Fugitive Task Force has arrested two individuals responsible for a stabbing that occurred outside the business of Taqueria Chillangos, located at 2723 Roosevelt Boulevard, in Kenner. 

On Friday, March 30, 2012, members of the U.S. Marshalís Gulf Coast Regional Fugitive Task Force, located and arrested Jorge Esteban Esteva Acosta, 29, and his girlfriend Miguelina Rodriguez-Monegro, 26, both who provided an address of 2220 Cleary Avenue, in Metairie.  Jorge Esteban Esteva Acosta was charged with the crime of attempt second degree murder, and Miguelina Rodriguez-Monegro was charged with the crime of principal to attempt second degree murder.  Details of the offence are as follows: 

On Wednesday, March 21, 2012, Acosta and Monegro were involved in a disturbance located inside Taqueria Chillangos.  Both were escorted out the business by the victim / manager.  Once outside the business, both began fighting with the victim / manager.  During the altercation, Acosta ran to a white Dodge Charger, later found registered to him, and retrieved a baseball that he used to try to strike the victim.  The victim was able deflect the hit and take the bat from Acosta, at which time the victim attempted to retreat back inside the business.  Monegro then picked up a beer glass that she broke and handed it to Acosta, who began to violently stab the victim. 

As the result of the stabbing, the victim was transported to a local hospital where he required immediate surgery due to a significant blood loss.  The victimís brachial artery was severed; in addition, the victim sustained stab wounds to his left wrist, right shoulder, back, and chest.  

Both Acosta and Monegro remain in custody, no bond has been set.
