Man killed crossing Williams Boulevard

Kenner - On Monday, March 12, 2012, at approximately 10:04 p.m., the Kenner Police Department responded to an accident involving a pedestrian in the 2100 of Williams Boulevard, in Kenner.  Their Kenner Officers discovered that William Self, 64, with a last known address in Kenner, attempted to cross Williams Boulevard, eastbound in the 2100 block, just north of its intersection with 21st Street.  As Self crossed Williams Boulevard, he walked into the path of a white 1999 Ford Explorer that was traveling in the right northbound lane of travel.  Self was struck by the front left portion of the vehicle, which caused him to strike the windshield.   Self was propelled into the adjacent northbound lane of travel, where witnesses claim he may have been glanced by a passing vehicle’s tire.  Witnesses described the second vehicle as either a dark colored sports utility vehicle and / or a red Pontiac, which left the scene.  Self’s death was pronounced on scene.
