California man arrested for robbery confesses to 8 vehicle burglaries in Kenner

Kenner - A California man arrested yesterday, (Wednesday, February 22, 2012), has confessed to committing a minimum of 8 vehicle burglaries in Kenner to support his addition to crack cocaine.  On Wednesday, February 22, 2012, the Kenner Police Department responded to a pedestrian robbery outside a convenience store located in the 2100 block of Airline Drive, in Kenner.   There, Kenner Police met with the 46 year old victim who reported that an acquaintance, identified as Dominic Jacobs, 26, (currently homeless), had approached him asking for change and cigarettes.  When the victim advised he didnít have any, Jacobs beat the victim, striking him in the head and face.  Jacobs then removed the victimís wallet, cell phone, and other property from the victimís immediate possession (pockets) and fled the scene.  The victim, who sustained abrasions to his face, head, and ears, was treated and released at Ochsner Kenner.  An arrest warrant was issued for Jacobs for the crime of simple robbery.

While attempting to locate Jacobs, members of the Criminal Investigations Division, Special Response Team (bike patrol), and Patrol Division, later observed Jacobs in the 400 block of Jackson Street, in Kenner.  Upon observing officers, Jacobs resisted arrest and led officers on a foot chase that ended in the 400 block of Providence Lane, in River Ridge, where he was taken into custody.

Jacobs was later interviewed by Detectives George Hoffmann and Shane Tilford concerning the simple robbery and about several vehicle burglaries that occurred in areas Jacobs was known to frequent.    During interview, Jacobs confessed to committing 8 vehicle burglaries having occurred in Kenner and 1 that is alleged to have occurred in River Ridge.  Jacobs was charged with the crimes of simple robbery, simple burglary (8-counts), possession of a firearm by a person convicted of certain felonies, and resisting an officer.  The vehicle burglaries that Jacobs was arrested for occurred at the following locations.
