Kenner man arrested for stealing lawn furniture


Kenner - A Kenner man stealing lawn furniture from the porch of a residence in the 4100 block of Beaune Drive (Chateau Estates), Kenner, has been arrested.  Jeffrey Goodwin, 42, of 4300 Chateau Boulevard, Kenner, was arrested Tuesday, June 7, 2011, and charged with the crime of attempted theft. 

On Monday, June 6, 2011, Goodwin driving a blue Chevrolet 06000 truck backed his vehicle into a driveway in the 4100 block of Beaune Drive.  Goodwin exited his vehicle and began to remove outdoor furniture which was on the front porch of a residence.  The homeowner, who had surveillance cameras attached to his home, saw Goodwin removing his furniture from the porch, exited his residence and confronted him.  Goodwin apologized to the homeowner, returned the furniture that he placed in his truck, and fled.  The homeowner gave Kenner Police a copy of the video surveillance that was distributed to patrol personnel. 

On Tuesday, June 7, 2011, Kenner Police Officer Brad Ricke observed a vehicle matching the suspect vehicle backed in beneath a carport in the 4300 block of Chateau Boulevard.  Officer Ricke was familiar with Goodwin do to a previous arrest in which he arrested Goodwin for outstanding attachments.  Officer Ricke also knew Goodwin matched the description of the suspect provided by the homeowner.  Goodwin was located and detained in reference to the investigation.  Upon interview, Goodwin admitted to the attempted theft.  Goodwin admitted he was driving through the area, observed the outdoor furniture, backed his vehicle into the victimís driveway, and exited the vehicle and began to load the furniture into his truck until he was confronted by the homeowner.
