Kenner Police release surveillance photographs of murder suspect

KENNER - The Kenner Police Department is releasing surveillance photographs of the suspect they believe is responsible for the murder of Afonso Ramos-Silva, 58, of Kenner, who was shot in the 900 block of Roosevelt Boulevard, in Kenner, on Saturday, July 16, 2011, at 8:17 p.m.

Ramos-Silva was walking home from the Brother’s Food Mart, located at 2210 Airline Drive, Kenner, when he was approached and shot by the suspect who appears in the surveillance photographs.  Ramos-Silva later succumbed to his injuries at University Hospital.

In addition to the surveillance photographs, the Kenner Police Department is again releasing the composite sketch, which was originally released to the news media on July 21, 2011.  Witnesses described the suspect to be a black male, 20’s to 30’s, 5’10” to 6’2” in height.

Chief Steve Caraway urges anyone you can identify the person responsible for the murder to call the Kenner Police Department at (504) 712-2222 or Crimestoppers at (504) 822-1111.

Detective Joseph McRae is in charge of the investigation.
