Crimestoppers tip leads to Metairie man arrested for child molestation and sexual battery

Kenner - On September 17, 2010, the Kenner Police Department received a Crimestopper tip; reporting the sexual molestation of a child victim 7 years old.  As the result of the Crimestopper tip; the Kenner Police Department initiated an investigation; and met with the victim who disclosed multiple incidents of sexual battery and molestation.

On Tuesday, March 1, 2011, Daniel Paz, 26, who provided the home address of 117 Maryland Street, in Metairie, was interviewed by Kenner Police Detective Joseph McRae concerning the Crimestopper tip, disclosure from the victim, and subsequent interviews with the child victim at the Jefferson Children’s Advocacy Center, and Children’s Hospital.  During the interview; Paz admitted to three separate incidents of sexual battery and molestation of a juvenile in which he inserted his hand into the pants of the 7 year old female victim and penetrated her with his finger.  During the interview, Paz claimed the 7-year-old victim was the aggressor.   Paz was arrested and charged with the crimes of sexual battery (3 counts) and molestation of a juvenile (3-counts).  Paz remains in the custody of the Jefferson Parish Correctional Center; pending a magistrate hearing for bond.   Paz was acquainted with the victim family at the time of incident and would watch the child victim and siblings when the mother was not at home.
