Shotgun Armed Robbery Suspects Arrested

KENNER - On Wednesday, September 8, 2010, three suspects responsible for a shotgun armed robbery that occurred in the 2400 block of Albany Street were arrested.  Arrested was Brennan Bellard, 18, of 2701 Greenwood Street, Kenner, Nicholas Overton, 19, of 2716 Augusta Street, Kenner, and a fifteen year old juvenile, from Kenner. The three were charged with armed robbery (2-counts).

On September 2, 2010, Bellard, Overton, and the fifteen year old approached two victims in the 2400 block of Albany Street.  Bellard who was armed with a shotgun, ordered the victims to lie on the ground.  While on the ground the suspects demanded the victims’ cash, jewelry, and personal property.

It should be noted that above investigation was a joint investigation, in which Kenner detectives worked along with the Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s Office Robbery Detectives who were investigating similar armed robberies in Metairie, in which some of the same suspects, including two additional suspects from Kenner were arrested in reference to other shotgun armed robberies that occurred in Metairie.  As the result of the joint investigation, two handguns were seized, and some of the Albany Street victim’s property was recovered.

Bellard and Overton remain in custody at the Jefferson Parish Correctional Center and the juvenile is presently remanded in the custody of the Rivarde Detention Center.    Contact Jefferson Parish Pubic Information Officer Larry Dyess for additional information on the other two suspects arrested and the Jefferson Parish armed robberies.

Chief Steve Caraway urges anyone with information concerning this incident to call the Kenner Police Department (504) 712-2222, or Crimestoppers at (504) 822-1111.

Detective George Hoffmann and Detective Harold Pendergast are in charge of the investigation.
