Kenner Police Department to participate in

Law Enforcement Torch Run on May 19


KENNER—The Kenner Police Department, along with the DEA, Gretna Police Department, Harahan Police Department, Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s Office, Louisiana State Police, Probation and Parole and Secret Service members will participate in the 25th annual Louisiana Law Enforcement Torch Run on Wednesday, May 19, 2010 to benefit Special Olympics Louisiana.  Officers with the Kenner Police Department have carried the “Flame of Hope” through the streets of Kenner since the event came to Louisiana in 1985.  To date, the Law Enforcement Torch Run is the largest fundraising and public awareness campaign for Special Olympics programs around the world.


The route for the Kenner Police Department will be as follows:

Beginning at approximately 8:00 a.m., runners will start out at 5708 Airline Drive in Metairie (Victory Christian Academy) and will run west on Airline Drive to Williams Blvd.  They will turn right onto Williams Blvd., traveling north towards Veterans Blvd.  They will then turn left onto Veterans Blvd., traveling west towards the Kenner Police Complex, located at 500 Veterans Blvd, where the run will end.  The length of the route is 6.3 miles.
