Kenner man shot / suspect arrested

KENNER - On Tuesday, May 18, 2010 at 0215 a.m., the Kenner Police Department responded to a shooting in the 2600 block of Tifton Street in Kenner.  Upon arrival, police officers located a 20 year old male victim who had been shot multiple times.  Upon interviewing the victim who was conscious, it was learned he and a fifteen year old were walking in the 2600 block of Tifton Street when they were approached by a small gray sedan.  As the vehicle stopped, Nadaniel Shaw, an acquaintance to the victim, exited the passenger side of the vehicle and began shooting at the victim and the juvenile.  The male victim was struck numerous times causing him to fall to the ground.  Nadaniel Shaw then stood over the victim, struck him, and shot the victim again. Nadaniel Shaw then fled in the above vehicle.   The juvenile was not injured.   The victim was transported to a local hospital where he underwent surgery and remains in critical condition.  The victim sustained bullet wounds to his left forearm, spine, liver, chest, upper back, and right calf. 

With the assistance of the Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s Office, Nadaniel Shaw, 19, who provided a home address of 505 North Elm Street, in Metairie, was located and arrested.  Shaw was charged with the crime of Attempt 1st degree murder (2-counts).  At the time of this press release, Shaw remains in the custody of the Jefferson Parish Correctional Center in Gretna.  Bond has not been set.  Shaw was also booked on a detainer by Jefferson Parish Probation and Parole.  Shaw was on probation / parole at the time of the shooting for possession of cocaine until 2/4/2012.
