Franklinton man arrested after
robbing the same store twice
KENNER - A Franklinton
man, who claims he has been living in the 1600 block of
Newport Place,
Kenner,
since Saturday, has been arrested and charged with armed robbery
(2-counts) after he robbed the same store twice.
At approximately 2:42 a.m.
(Wednesday, January 20, 2010), the Kenner Police Department
responded to an armed robbery at the Shell Station, located at 3206 Williams Boulevard, in Kenner, after learning a
male suspect entered the store, produced a handgun and demanded
money.
Upon the male suspect fleeing the
store, Kenner Police Officer Nicholas Engler saw the suspect
(Raymond Joseph Davis, 18) get into a vehicle which he stopped
at 33rd Street
and Williams Boulevard.
At the time of the stop, Davis was in possession of a handgun and the
money taken from the robbery.
Davis
was interviewed by Detective Brian McGregor and Officer David
Schulter concerning a similar armed robbery that occurred at the
same location, on Sunday, January 17, 2010, at 0512 hours, in
which a male suspect entered the store, produced a handgun and
demanded money.
After obtaining the money, the male
suspect fled eastbound on 32nd Street
on foot.
While interviewing Davis, he confessed to committing both armed
robberies because he was unemployed and needed money.
At the time of this press release,
Davis
remains in custody, no bond has been set.
Chief Steve Caraway urges anyone with
information concerning this incident, to call the Kenner Police
Department at (504) 712-2222 or Crimestoppers at (504) 822-1111.
Detective Brian McGregor and Officer Nicholas Engler are in
charge of both investigations.
