5 SUBJECTS IN CUSTODY FOR ATTEMPTED MURDER
OF TWO KENNER POLICE OFFICER
At approximately 6:48 P.M., the Kenner Police Communications
Section was alerted by one of the Kenner Police License Plate
Recognition Cameras that a stolen vehicle had passed one of the
cameras located in the City of
Kenner. Dispatchers alerted units in the
area of the vehicle’s location and license plate number.
Officers located the vehicle traveling on Outer Ring Road toward W. Esplanade Ave.
Officers stopped the vehicle inside the Mall parking lot. As the
two officers approached the vehicle on foot, the driver backed
up toward the officers attempting to run them over. The vehicle
fled the scene toward 32nd street
where responding officer began to pursue the vehicle. The
vehicle entered the I-10 Eastbound where in approximately the
2900 block of I-10 they struck a vehicle. The five subjects fled
from the vehicle on foot and crossed the interstate and ran into
a near-by subdivision. After a brief search all five subjects
were taken into custody.
Under arrest are:
Patrick Weaver 19, from New Orleans (vehicle driver)
Prentiss Collins 19, from New Orleans
Michael Johnson 20, from New Orleans
And two 16 year old juveniles also from New Orleans
Det. Jeff Adams is investigating this incident.
