Kenner Police investigating late night shooting

KENNER - On Monday, September 7, 2009, at approximately 11:24 p.m., the Kenner Police Department responded to a report of gunshots in the 300 block of Duke Drive, in Kenner.  Upon arrival, officers learned that two victims had been transported to Kenner Ochsner Hospital via private vehicle.  Officers investigating the incident learned that prior to the shooting, both victims were in the 200 block of Clemson Place where a game of dice was being played.  While the victims walked back and entered their vehicle, which was parked in the 300 block of Duke Drive, unknown suspects began shooting at the two victims.  Numerous gun casings from an assault rifle were recovered from the crime scene.  In addition, numerous occupied apartments in the 300 block of Duke Drive were struck by stray bullets.

The victims are identified as Curtis Martin, Jr., 27, of Kenner, who is presently on probation for distribution of marijuana until March 2010.  Martin received gunshot wounds to his lower back, upper buttocks and left shoulder.  He remains hospitalized in stable condition.  The second victim is identified as Quincey Green, 20, who has prior addresses in St. John and St. Charles Parish.  Green was shot in the back, chest and shoulder.  He is presently hospitalized in critical condition.  There are no suspects or motive at this time.

Chief Steve Caraway urges anyone with information concerning this incident, to call the Kenner Police Department at (504) 712-2222 or Crimestoppers at (504) 822-1111.
