MONTZ MAN ARRESTED IN REFERENCE TO EARLY MORNING HOMICIDE

KENNER - Michael Wallace Dunn, 22, who provided the home address of 153 Kenner Street, Montz, has been arrested by Kenner Police and charged with negligent homicide and illegal possession of a stolen firearm, in reference to an early morning shooting that left a Laplace man dead.  The victim is identified as Perry Victor, 31 of Laplace.

At approximately 0244 hours, a white 2001 Oldsmobile Aurora pulled up to Kenner Police Officers who where outside Chell’s Daiquiris, located at 1815 Airline Highway in Kenner.  The occupants of the vehicle reported Perry Victor had been shot.  Perry Victor was seated in the front passenger seat of the vehicle and was found to have a gunshot wound to the back.  Victor was transported to Ochsner Kenner where he was pronounced dead.

The investigation revealed that Michael Dunn was seated in the rear seat of the vehicle.  Dunn was in possession of a stolen .22 caliber handgun, which was confirmed stolen in 2005 from St. Charles Parish.  While pointing the stolen gun in an unsafe direction and attempting to unload it, according to Dunn, the gun discharged striking Perry Victor in the back.  Prior to seeking medical assistance for the Perry Victor, Dunn then threw the gun from the vehicle which was later recovered.

Michael Dunn remains in the custody of the Jefferson Parish Correctional Center.  At the time of this release his bond has not been set.

Chief Steve Caraway urges anyone with information concerning this incident, to call the Kenner Police Department at (504) 712-2222 or Crimestoppers at (504) 822-1111.
