Jefferson Parish homicide suspects arrested by
Kenner Police
KENNER - Two Kenner men
arrested in reference to the death of a 7 year old River Ridge
girl have been arrested by Kenner Police and charged in
reference to an unrelated shooting that occurred on September
12, 2009, in the 900 block of Fairway Street, in Kenner.
Roger Chairs, 21, who provided the
home address of
728 Filmore Street,
Kenner,
and Andre Preston, 21, who provided the home address of
424 Webster Street,
Kenner,
were additionally charged with the crimes of attempted second
degree murder, aggravated criminal damage to property (2-counts)
and illegal discharge of a firearm.
On September 12, 2009,
Preston and Chairs stopped behind the victim’s
vehicle in the 900 block of Fairway Street.
Preston
exited a vehicle driven by Chairs.
Preston armed with an assault rifle, fired numerous times
into the victim’s vehicle, causing damage to the victim’s rear
window, windshield, rear bumper and driver’s side head rest.
While Preston
shot into the victim’s vehicle, projectiles nearly struck the
victim in the head. While firing the assault rifle,
numerous projectiles traveled across
Airline Drive and entered into the
Pellerin Milner Corporation building located directly south of Fairway Street.
In addition to the above charges, Kenner
Police who were working with the Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s
Office located Preston
(November 10, 2009) at the Travel Lodge Hotel, located at
2240 Veterans Boulevard, Kenner.
As a result of a search warrant
executed at the location, detectives located a .45 caliber
handgun which was reported stolen from Jefferson Parish, a
loaded 9 millimeter handgun with a high capacity magazine, 29.4
grams of marijuana, 7.6 grams of crack cocaine, and a digital
scale inside Preston’s hotel
room.
Preston
was additionally charged with possession with the intent to
distribute cocaine, possession of marijuana, possession of a
stolen firearm, possession of a firearm while in possession of a
controlled dangerous substance and possession of drug
paraphernalia.
Both Preston and Chairs remain in
the custody of the
Jefferson
Parish
Correctional
Center.
At the time of this news release no
bond has been set.
