Third suspect arrested in reference to
Fairway Street shooting
KENNER
- A third and final suspect wanted in reference to a September
12, 2009 shooting that occurred 900 block of
Fairway Street,
Kenner,
has been arrested.
Kareem Nicholas, 20, who provided
the home address of
1356 Myrtle Street in
Metairie, has been charged with the crimes of
attempted second degree murder, aggravated criminal damage to
property (2-counts) and illegal discharge of a firearm.
Nicholas was located today
(11-13-2009) in the 500 block of North Elm Street in
Metairie by members of the U.S. Marshall’s Gulf
Coast Fugitive Task Force.
Nicholas was arrested along with Andre
Preston, 21, and Roger Chairs, 21, of
Kenner.
On September 12, 2009,
Preston, Chairs, and Nicholas stopped behind the
victim’s vehicle in the 900 block of Fairway Street.
Preston
exited a vehicle driven by Chairs.
Preston armed with an assault rifle, fired numerous times
into the victim’s vehicle, causing damage to the victim’s rear
window, windshield, rear bumper and driver’s side head rest.
While Preston
shot into the victim’s vehicle, projectiles nearly struck the
victim in the head.
While firing the assault rifle,
numerous projectiles traveled across
Airline Drive and entered into the
Pellerin Milner Corporation building located directly south of Fairway Street.
