Two
Kenner men
arrested in reference to early morning home invasion
Kenner - Two Kenner men were arrested after an
early morning home invasion / robbery in which they physically
attacked a 78 year old woman who was asleep in her bed.
Joshua Veal, 19, who provided the home address of 2116 9th Street, Kenner
and Rene Netter, 46, who provided the home address of 1806 Lloyd Price Street, Kenner,
were arrested in the 900 block of
Compromise Street, just 4 blocks away
from the home invasion / robbery of the elderly victim.
Both Veal and Netter entered the victim’s residence by
force, verbally threatened to kill the elderly victim with a
knife, and held the victim down while shoving a 36 inch steel
crowbar into her ribs.
Both Veal and Netter demanded money, ransacked the
victim’s residence and took the victim’s purse before fleeing.
Kenner Police Officers located Veal and Netter in the 900 block
of Compromise
Street, in
Kenner.
Both were identified as the perpetrators of the above
incident and arrested.
Officers were able to recover the victim’s property along
with the weapons / tools used during the home invasion /
robbery.
Rene Netter, who was in possession of the crowbar at the time of
the offense, was charged with the crimes of armed robbery, home
invasion, perpetration of certain crimes of violence against a
victim sixty-five of age or older, prohibited acts (found in
possession of a crack pipe) and illegal carrying of weapons.
A criminal background check revealed Netter has prior
felony convictions for purse snatching, simple robbery, felony
theft, and simple burglary of an inhabited dwelling.
Joshua Veal was charged with the crimes of armed robbery, home
invasion and perpetration of certain crimes of violence against
a victim sixty-five years or older.
Both remain in the
Jefferson
Parish
Correctional
Center.
Bond has not been set. The above incident occurred
Saturday, June 6, 2009 at 0215 a.m.
Officer Charles Donovan and Officer Brent Donovan are in charge
of the investigation.
