CHIEF STEPHEN CARAWAY WARNS OF PHONE SCAM

Kenner - Chief Caraway wants Kenner citizens to be aware of a recent phone solicitation scam the Kenner Police Department has been made aware of.

Kenner citizens that have been contacted, advise they all received a pre-recorded message advising them to contact the Jefferson Federal Institution at 1-888-443-6665 in reference to unusual activity on their financial accounts. These calls have been received by a number of citizens living throughout the city. When the number is called it begins by requesting all types of personal info. (Debit card account number, social security number).

As always, in situations such as this, Chief Caraway wants to remind everyone to never provide personal or financial information to anyone over the telephone or internet unless you know for certain whom you are dealing with.

Chief Steve Caraway urges anyone with information concerning this incident, to call the Kenner Police Department at (504) 712-2222, or Crimestoppers at (504) 822-1111.
