Mississippi man arrested in online internet sting

Kenner - A Bay St. Louis, Mississippi man was arrested Wednesday in an undercover online internet sting.  Alphonse Joseph Lind, III, 30, who provided the home address of 569 Easterbrook Street, Bay St. Louis, Mississippi, was arrested and charged with the crimes of computer aided solicitation for sexual purposes, indecent behavior with a juvenile (2-counts) and pornography involving juveniles.  The investigation began April 23, 2009 when a Kenner detective entered into an online internet chat room posing as a juvenile.

Lind, who used the screen name dkcrow” described himself as a 30-year old male from Covington, Louisiana.  During the course of several chat sessions which became sexual in nature, Lind solicited the juvenile to photograph her genital area and send him the images via internet.  Lind also sent images of his exposed penis and invited the juvenile to view his webcam, at which time he was seen masturbating.

On Wednesday, June 17, 2009, with the assistance of the Mississippi Highway Patrol Bureau of Investigations (S/A Shelby Smith), Lind was arrested at his place of employment (Silver Slipper Casino) in Bay St. Louis, Mississippi.  Lind confessed to said incident and signed a waiver of extradition and was extradited to Jefferson Parish where he was charged accordingly.  At the time of this press release, Lind remains in the custody of the Jefferson Parish Correctional Center.  Bond has not been set.

If convicted, Lind will be required to register as a sex offender and faces imprisonment for not less than two (2) years or more than ten (10) years.  With the multiple charges, however the sentence could be up to twenty-five (25) years.
