LaPlace man booked in robbery attempt

Kenner - A Laplace man was booked Wednesday, June 24, 2009, for an attempted armed robbery that occurred on June 9, 2009, in the 2700 block of Dawson Street, in Kenner.  Isaiah Lane, 19, who provided the home address of 1805 Cartier Drive, LaPlace, was charged with the crimes of attempted armed robbery, aggravated assault with a firearm, illegal use of weapons and simple battery.

On Tuesday, June 9, 2009, Lane and two unidentified males approached three Hispanic males in the 2700 block of Dawson Street.  Lane produced a handgun and began demanding money from the victims.  The victims who understood very little English resisted the robbery attempt and were beaten by the three perpetrators.  A witness, who observed what was happening, approached in an attempt to help the victims.  As the witness approached, Lane pointed the handgun in the air and fire three gunshots.

Detective Jesse Johnson received information that Lane was involved in the above incident.  The victims positively identified Lane as the person with the gun.

Chief Steve Caraway urges anyone with information concerning the identity of the other two subjects involved in the robbery to call the Kenner Police Department at (504) 712-2222 or Crimestoppers at (504) 821-2222.

Detective Jesse Johnson is in charge of the investigation.
