Burglary suspects arrested
Kenner
- On Wednesday, June 24, 2009, at approximately 6:19 p.m.,
Kenner Police officers responded to an attempted residential
burglary complaint located in the 900 block of Ronson Street, in
Kenner.
Officer Darren Rappold learned that
the victim was informed by neighbors that a man was in her
backyard.
The victim discovered that someone
attempted to force entry into her residence by breaking a rear
window screen.
As police officers were responding
to the victim’s complaint, the victim and witnesses saw the male
subject in another neighbor’s rear yard.
Officers located and arrested,
Roberto Barquero, 17, who provided a home address of 3840 Arizona Avenue, Kenner, hiding
beneath a boat in the 900 block of
Ronson Street.
At the time of arrest, Barquero was
in possession of the victim’s purse that was earlier located on
a table in the victim’s rear yard.
Barquero was interviewed by Kenner Police
Detectives George Hoffmann and Herbert Hille.
During interview, Barquero confessed
to the Ronson
Street incident and to an earlier
burglary of a neighbor’s home, located in the 3800 block of Arizona Avenue.
Entry was made in the Arizona Avenue burglary through a open
side door.
Property belonging to the victim was
recovered in Barquero’s possession and in his home.
While conducting the investigation,
detectives learned that Sean Mayer, 18, who provided the home
address of 676 Mayfair Lane,
Kenner, was
also responsible for the
Arizona Street burglary.
Barquero was charged with the crimes of simple burglary of an
inhabited dwelling, attempted simple burglary of an inhabited
dwelling, theft, illegal possession of stolen things, battery on
a police officer, resisting an officer and illegal possession of
Alprazolam, which was found in Barquero’s possession.
Mayer was located and charged with the
crime of simple burglary of an inhabited dwelling.
Both Barquero and Mayer were transported to
the Jefferson
Parish
Correctional
Center.
At the time of this press release,
both remain in custody.
Bond has not been set.
Officers Darren Rappold and
Christina Urrata are in charge of the investigation.
