National Night
Out Against Crime Kick-Off Party, Aug 2
Kick-off
precedes National Night Out Against Crime, Aug 4
KENNER
— Everyone is invited to attend the Tenth Annual National Night
Out Against Crime Kick-Off Party taking place on Sunday, August
2, from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Treasure Chest Casino.
Join your local law enforcement agencies in promoting
crime prevention awareness and neighborhood unity in fighting
crime!
Over 20 agencies at the local, state, and
federal levels from southeastern
Louisiana
will meet on the grounds of the Treasure Chest Casino, bringing
their equipment for public display.
As always, there will be exciting
entertainment, children’s activities, various displays by law
enforcement professionals, a red bean & rice cookoff, live
music, and great food—ALL FREE!
This year, the Gashouse Gorillaz will be performing on
stage at the Treasure Chest Casino.
Also, fun activities for this year’s event include a
splash shack for the kids and demonstrations by the Kenner
Police Department K-9 Unit and the Kenner Fire Department.
The Kick-Off Party is a prelude to the 26th
Annual National Night Out Against Crime, which
Kenner
will observe with the rest of the country on the evening of
Tuesday, August 4, 2009.
Citizens can help us celebrate this event in a variety of
ways, such as having a block party, a cookout, flashlight walks,
or by sitting on their front porch with their lights on – a
symbol that has become a tradition over the years.
Those organizing parties or gatherings on August 4 are
encouraged to call the Kenner Police Department to have officers
visit their neighborhoods.
