Employee arrested for burglarizing Kenner restaurant
KENNER
– On
Tuesday, July 14th, 2009, Michael Heine, age 23, of Kenner, was arrested for burglarizing the
Flamin Burger restaurant located at
2009 Williams Boulevard. Michael had
been employed at the restaurant for about a month. Michael was
developed as a suspect, after the owner of the restaurant said
they specifically told him to secure a rear door before closing.
Officers investigating the burglary noticed that the rear door
was not secured and the money was stolen from a safe secured by
a combination feature.
Michael was brought in for questioning and
confessed to burglarizing the restaurant. Officers searched
Michael’s residence and recovered a brown paper money band and
latex gloves from his bedroom trash can. Michael directed
officers to his rear yard, where he had hidden the stolen cash.
Officers recovered approximately $560 in the rear yard. Michael
told officers he used some of the money to purchase heroin.
Michael was charged with
simple burglary. If convicted, he faces a maximum sentence of 12
years in prison.
Detective George Hoffmann is in charge of the
investigation.
