Man murdered in parking lot

KENNER – On Friday, November 21, 2008, at 6:34 p.m., the Kenner Police Department received a 911 call of a subject lying on the ground in the parking lot of 1724 Newport Place in Kenner.

Officers arrived on scene and discovered the body of a male who suffered one gunshot wound to the head. There were no casings recovered on the scene. A wallet was found next to the body, which contained a Brazilian identification card. Police believe robbery was motive and are trying to determine if the victim lived in and/or around the apartment complex. There were no witnesses on the scene when police arrived.

Police are not releasing the victim’s name until family members have been notified. Police will release more information when it becomes available.
