Employee, ex-employee, and
one other sought in Golden Corral robbery
Kenner
– On Saturday, May 17, 2008, at 12:15 a.m., the Kenner Police
Department responded to an armed robbery at the Golden Corral
restaurant located at 3940 Williams Boulevard, Kenner. Upon
arrival it was learned that manager and an employee were
approached by two male subjects as they exited the business.
The subjects were armed with a rifle and shotgun. The suspects
forced the manager and employee back into the business, where
they demanded the manager remove the cash from the safe. After
receiving the cash, the two subjects also removed cash from the
manager’s wallet and struck him in the head with the gun. The
subjects then restrained the manager’s hands behind his back
with zip ties, and fled the business.
Through
the investigation and interview of the employee, identified as
Xenh Flowers, 19, of 4100 Alabama Avenue, apartment 8, Kenner,
his version of the incident was suspicious and inconsistent.
During the interview, Flowers confessed that he conspired with
the two robbery perpetrators and informed them of the time that
the restaurant closed and what time to commit the robbery.
Flowers also instructed the two perpetrators to wear bandannas.
The shotgun used in the robbery was found in Flowers home.
One of
the robbery perpetrators wearing the bandanna was identified as
an ex-employee of the Golden Corral, Raynard Brooks, 20, of 7648
Trica Court, New Orleans. Brooks was later arrested and found
to have cash wrapped in a rubber band. The cash was found
hidden in the spare tire wheel well of Brooks’ vehicle.
Flowers
was arrested and charged with the crime of armed robbery and
criminal mischief.
Brooks
was charged with the crime of armed robbery, aggravated battery,
possession of stolen things, and simple criminal damage to
property.
The
Kenner Police Department is verifying the identity of the 3rd
suspect and will release his name at a later date.
Both
Brooks and Flowers remain in the custody of the Jefferson Parish
Correctional Center, in Gretna. Brooks’ bond was set at
$157,500 and Flowers’ at $150,250.
Chief
Steve Caraway urges anyone with information concerning this
incident, to call the Kenner Police Department at (504)
712-2222, or Crimestoppers at (504) 822-1111.
