Metairie man featured on Crimestoppers billboard arrested

Kenner – A Metairie man featured on a Crimestoppers billboard was arrested Tuesday, June 17. Steven Tobias, 26, who provided a home address of 1009 S. Bengal Street, Metairie, was arrested on an outstanding warrant for attempted first degree murder.

On November 10, 2007, Kenner Police officers observed Tobias, the driver of a 1999 Dodge Intrepid engaged in a hand-to-hand narcotics transaction with a pedestrian in the 300 block of Taylor Street, Kenner. Upon officers approaching the vehicle, the pedestrian was arrested for possession of crack cocaine. Upon uniformed officers attempting to detain Tobias, he intentionally attempted to run over a Kenner Police officer with the vehicle to make his escape. Tobias abandoned his vehicle in the 300 block of Providence Lane, in River Ridge.
