Joint
investigation leads to bank robber’s arrest
Kenner-A joint
investigation conducted by the Kenner Police Department,
Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s Office, Federal Bureau of
Investigations, Mississippi Highway Patrol, and the Simpson
County Sheriff’s Office (Mississippi) has lead to the arrest of
Xavier Ward, 47, for the crime of armed robbery. Ward, who
provides a home address in Brooklyn, New York, has been arrested
and extradited from Simpson County Sheriff’s Office, in
reference to the June 20, 2008, armed robbery of First Bank and
Trust, located at 3417 Williams Boulevard, Kenner.
On June 20, 2008, Ward
displayed an unknown caliber handgun to the teller and was able
to flee with an undisclosed amount of money.
Ward developed as a suspect
in the bank robbery, after it was learned that on Saturday, July
5, 2008, Ward was arrested by Mississippi Highway Patrol Trooper
Jamie Puckett for a suspended driver’s license in Simpson County
Mississippi. At the time of arrest, Ward was found to be in
possession of dye stained money. The investigation is ongoing.
Ward is believed to be a suspect in other robberies that have
occurred in the metropolitan area.
