Arrest warrant issued for sexual predator

KENNER – On January 4, 2008, an arrest warrant was issued for Michael Sprinkel, age 41, of Sussex, Wisconsin, for the alleged crimes of computer-aided solicitation for sexual purposes (3-counts), indecent behavior with juveniles (3-counts), and pornography involving juveniles (3-counts).

The undercover operation began in August 2007, when a Kenner detective went into a chat room online posing as a 15 year-old female juvenile from Kenner. The detective was contacted by Sprinkel, who used the screen name “sammycubs2007.”

From the onset, Sprinkel knew he was chatting with a female juvenile and the chat turned sexual in nature where he invited the detective to view his webcam. Sprinkel sent images of himself masturbating. Sprinkel contacted the detective two additional times in November 2007, where the chats were sexual in nature and he sent images of himself masturbating, via the webcam.

If convicted, Sprinkel will be required to register as a sex offender and face a mandatory two year prison term on each count.

The investigation was made possible by the utilization of equipment donated to the Kenner Police Department by the Federal Bureau of Investigations, specifically for this type of investigation.

The Kenner Police Department has been and will continue to aggressively go after individuals who use the Internet to sexually exploit juveniles from the city of Kenner.
