Sexual predator surrenders to Kenner Detective

KENNEROn April 28, 2008, at 10:00 A.M., Michael C. Sprinkle, age 41 of Sussex, Wisconsin surrendered to Kenner Detective Robert McGraw for four counts of computer-aided solicitation for sexual purposes, four counts of indecent behavior with juveniles and one count of pornography involving juveniles.  At the time of his arrest, Mr. Sprinkle was employed as a Civics Teacher and Softball Coach at an Elmbrook School District High School in Wisconsin.

The undercover operation began in August 2007, when a Kenner detective went into an online chat room posing as a juvenile female from Kenner.  Mr. Sprinkle, who used the screen name “sammycubs2007,” contacted the detective.  From the onset, Mr. Sprinkle knew he was chatting with a juvenile female.  During the course of the chat, Mr. Sprinkle solicited to have sex with the juvenile female.  Mr. Sprinkle then invited the juvenile female to view his webcam on four separate occasions.  Mr. Sprinkle sent images of himself masturbating via the webcam on each of the four occasions.

On January 4, 2008, a warrant was issued for Mr. Sprinkle and he was arrested by the Waukesha County Sheriff’s Office in Sussex, Wisconsin.  Mr. Sprinkle waived his rights to the Waukesha County Sherriff’s Office and gave a videotaped confession admitting to the crimes.  Mr. Sprinkle refused to waive extradition to Louisiana. Mr. Sprinkle was out on bond in Wisconsin while he fought extradition to Louisiana.  Mr. Sprinkle hired an attorney in Louisiana, the attorney arranged for Mr. Sprinkle to waive extradition and fly to Louisiana.  Upon his arrival to Louisiana, Mr. Sprinkle along with his attorney surrendered to Kenner Police Detective Robert McGraw.

If convicted, Mr. Sprinkle will be required to register as a sex offender and face a mandatory two year prison term.

The investigation and arrest were made possible by the utilization of equipment donated to the Kenner Police Department by the Federal Bureau of Investigations, specifically for this type of investigation.

The Kenner Police Department has been and will continue aggressively going after individuals who use the Internet to sexually exploit juveniles from the city of Kenner.

This is the 41st such arrest by the Kenner Police Department.
