Captain Fred Zimmerman began his career with the Kenner Police Department in 1977 and was assigned to the Airport Division.  In 1986, he attended and graduated from the LSU Basic Training Academy.  He was assigned to the Patrol Division, where in 1991 he was promoted to Sergeant, and in 2002 he was promoted to Lieutenant. 

Captain Zimmerman attended Northwestern University’s three-month Police Staff and Command Program in Evanston, IL., and he holds a bachelor’s degree in Paralegal Studies from Tulane University College, as well as an associate’s degree in Criminal Justice from Delgado Community College.

In 2006, he was promoted to the rank of Captain and assumed the duties of Commander of Technical Services.
