Captain Glenn Synigal

Commander of Investigative Services Bureau

Captain Glenn Synigal began his career with the Kenner Police Department in 1980 and was assigned to the Airport Division.  He was then assigned to the New Orleans Police Department, where he served in an undercover capacity for approximately two years.

Captain Synigal graduated from the Louisiana State University P.O.S.T. Academy in 1983, and in the same year, was assigned to the Kenner Police Department’s newly formed Narcotics Section.  He served in this capacity until 1986, and was assigned to the Patrol Division until 1991, when he was re-assigned to the Narcotics Section.  As a detective, Captain Synigal worked with numerous local, state, and federal agencies.

In 1995, he was promoted to Sergeant, and in 1996, he was assigned as Commander of the Narcotics Section, where he remained until January 2003.  During that tenure, Captain Synigal received the Officer of the Month award and was honored by the American Legion as Police Officer of the Year.  He is also a 2001 graduate of the FBI National Academy.

In January 2003, he was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant and assumed the duties of Squad 4 Commander in the Patrol Division.  In March of the same year, Captain Synigal was awarded the American Legion’s Lawman of the Year award for the State of Louisiana, District 2.

In 2006, he was promoted to the rank of Captain and assumed the duties of Commander of Field Services, which encompasses the Patrol and Traffic Divisions, and Police Reserves.  In 2008, he was positioned as Commander of Investigative Services, placing him over the Criminal Investigations Division.
