KPD Bicycle Patrol
The Kenner Police Department's
Bicycle
Patrol Unit, which was established in November of 2006, serves to better the community
by providing a positive, accessible presence throughout the
city.
Officers
who are part of the patrol have completed a 32-hour Police
Cyclist Course through the International Police Mountain Bike
Association.
There
are many advantages for Kenner Police Department Officers
patrolling on bikes versus those patrolling in cars or on foot.
For instance, they can utilize their senses better on a bike
than in a car; hearing and smelling things they couldn't from a
car. The bikes also allow them to be more mobile, which
enables them to cover larger areas than officers on foot.

The Officers' bicycles are equipped with
lighting and audible systems and are considered emergency
response vehicles.
